PrimaLuna at the CES 2016!

The PrimaLuna room at CES was playing an animal of a system!  Featuring VPI Industries– Kiseki – Manley Labs – PS Audio – Sonus faber this room was both a visual and sonic statement!

The Kiseki Blue & Kiseki PurpleHeart NS cartridge (also represented by Kevin Deal and a creation of Herman van den Dungen, founder PrimaLuna) were mounted on the great and beautiful VPI Avenger turntable. This room brought a lot of great vinyl alive in the room. They busted out a vintage Nautilus Half Speed Master of Neil Young Harvest and watching some old hippies rocking back and forth was a joy!

In our other room we hooked up our “Recommended” PrimaLuna DiaLogue HP Premium Integrated Amplifier with the YG Acoustics Carmel Two loudspeakers.

Showgoers were amazed at the powerful output and dynamics that were achieved by this combination. The system delivered rich tonality, excellent bass slam and a holographic soundstage.

PrimaLuna features in TAS Illustrated History of High-End Audio Volume Two.

Illustrated History of High-End AudioRecently, the American publisher The Absolute Sound, released the 2nd book in the series Illustrated History Of High-End Audio.

The first book highlights people and brands that played an important role in everything related to the development of loudspeakers. The 2nd book deals with the same but for the audio electronics.

In the 2nd Edition PrimaLuna and the man behind this beautiful Dutch brand, Herman van den Dungen, are highlighted. Along with his USA distributor Kevin Deal.

NEW review of our PrimaLuna DiaLogue Premium HP Integrated Amplifier by The Speaker Shack!

We had a GREAT start of the week! Mr Giancarlo Massironi of The Speaker Shack has been testing our PrimaLuna DiaLogue Premium HP Integrated Amplifier for several weeks. While testing he has shared his thoughts and photo’s of the HP amplifier on his website and Facebook page and now the full review is available online!

The Speaker Shack Forum is a website which is for AV and HiFi followers and when the site first started it mainly focused on KEN KREISEL (the man Ken Kreisel is a dear old friend from Herman by the way :-)) who is a legend in the Speaker industry but is now opening up to all brands and all types of equipment associated with AV and HiFi.

I myself have had many dedicated AV and HiFi set ups over the years and some being very High End to some being very basic but it does not matter as long as you get the meaning of what this hobby is all about and that is the pleasure of Music and watching movies on systems that can recreate a cinematic experience at Home and most of the time is better than what you get at the Cinema. I do hope you all enjoy my site and you are all welcome to join whether it be a passion for HiFi or you are crazy about AV it does not matter, this is meant for everyone and that’s you the enthusiast!!! I do many Equipment Reviews on my site and focus in on what I feel are the strongest points or features of certain products rather than going over old ground where other people have already reviewed the said equipment, I try and make my reviews more to the point and what I feel is more suited, anyway I hope you enjoy them!!

As you will read in the review Giancarlo is new in the world of tubes! He starts the introduction of his review with:

Conrad Johnson CA 150 Control AmplifierThe NEW Conrad Johnson CA 150 Control Amplifier has arrived at Durob Audio!

The CA150 control amplifier represents a distinctly different approach to
high-performance home audio. In many ways it is the ultimate embodiment of our
corporate design philosophy that simple circuits yield best results.

Similar in function to an integrated amplifier, a control amplifier offers the significant potential improvement of eliminating extra connections, external cabling, and inter-device connection considerations that limit conventional audio systems. But the control amplifier also eliminates an entire stage of audio circuitry (the line stage) and its inherent colorations.

The CA150 audio circuit is similar to our highly regarded MF2550 and MF2275
power amplifiers, with fet voltage gain circuit for tube-like transfer function and a high-current bi-polar output stage to achieve a high damping factor with limited negative feedback. The CA150 adds a sophisticated level control circuit that allows for precisely repeatable level and balance settings made in 1.0 dB increments.

Most integrated amplifiers not only forgo the advantage of eliminating redundant
circuits, but also are cheapened by stripping out features and sacrificing parts
quality to offer a low cost entry into a prestigious brand, thereby failing to achieve even the performance gains that could be afforded by integrating preamp and amp into a single package.

By contrast, the CA150 is a full featured control unit with seven line-level inputs including a theater loop, and its circuits incorporate the kind of top quality parts for which conrad-johnson is known. All resistors in the audio circuits and related power supplies are precision metal film types. With the exception of the large power supply reservoir capacitors (which are specially chosen electrolytic capacitors bypassed by polypropylenes), all capacitors in these circuits use polystyrene and polypropylene dielectrics. The over-sized power transformer would not seem out of place in an amplifier with much higher power rating. Even the machined gold-plated connectors have been selected for their sonic-excellence.

The use of carefully selected, high-quality parts enables the CA150 to properly
exploit the dramatic potential of a control amplifier to enhance the immediacy
of musical experience afforded by fine recordings. As a result, the CA150 is
notable for its resolution of subtle dynamic shadings and palpable imaging, for
a natural harmonic tonality, and extraordinary resolution.
