Door de voortdurend toenemende vervuiling op het lichtnet laten grote trafo’s, en dan met name ringkerntrafo’s, vaak een brom horen. De oorzaak ligt in onwenselijke gelijkstroom (DC) die door andere apparaten op het lichtnet ontstaat. De wisselspanning wordt asymmetrisch, en ringkerntrafo’s vinden dat niet fijn. De ringkerntrafo raakt in een mechanische trilling, en die hoor je. Overigens is die trilling onschuldig, maar wel vaak storend.
Echter, niet alleen de brommende trafo is het gevolg, de asymmetrie in de wisselspanning kan leiden tot premature verzadiging van de trafo met een afname van dynamiek en versmering van het geluid als gevolg. Gelukkig is er een adequate oplossing. De verdeeldozen van AH! hebben een DC Offset Killer waardoor nagenoeg alle DC wordt weggefilterd en de trafo-brom nagenoeg verdwijnt. Het resultaat is een nagenoeg stille trafo en een verfijnder en vloeiender geluid. Er zijn zelfs klanten die de dynamiek beter vinden na toepassing van de DC Offset Killer.

“A gdyby tak nie traktować EVO 400 jak lampy, tylko po prostu porównać ją ze wzmacniaczami w podobnej cenie? Jeżeli szukacie urządzenia do 30 kzł, po prostu to zróbcie. Jeżeli wygra, nie wyciągajcie pochopnych wniosków, że skoro „lampa jest lepsza”, to „jeszcze bardziej lampowa lampa” również powinna wygrać. Nie tędy droga. A już na pewno nie droga Hermana van den Dugena.”

And certainly not the way of Herman van den Dungen. The EVO400 is an excellent amplifier. That simple!”
