Designers come and go, but the true artisans and masters of an art… they are the ‘once in a generation’ folk. People talk about Stradivarius violins not just because of the output of generations of the Stradivari family, but specifically because of the work of Antonio Stradivari (1644-1737). In loudspeaker making, few true artisans had the same impact as Franco Serblin (1939-2013), and like all good masters of the art, his legacy lives on in the company that still bears his name. The Accordo from Franco Serblin is the distillation of a life spent making outstanding loudspeakers and exceptional two-way stand-mounts, made by family and friends (under the Laboratorium banner) in Vicenza, Italy

Customer Review: PrimaLuna EVO 400 Tube Preamplifier

This Pre Amp does take a little time to warm up and to break in. I heard from some of the reviews the base was not very good, in my opinion it is great. Very happy with overall sound quality with a very warm sound. Very surprised on how the highs are very soft, not sharp and clear without a muffled tone. My listening time to my stereo is up and old music is refreshed. Note: Good recordings are awesome, Poor quality recordings are…. well almost not worth listening to with this Pre Amp.

Recently Stereophile Magazine in the USA published their “Recommended Components 2021” list. We are proud and thankful that Stereophile listed our PrimaLuna EVO 400 Tube Preamplifier in the category Two-channel Preamplifier as CLASS A component.

PrimaLuna’s brand-new flagship line-level preamp—it replaces the company’s DiaLogue Premium—the EVO 400 uses tubes for rectification as well as for gain and buffering, and includes input and output transformers that allow balanced operation. Noting that its extraordinary weight (52.8lb) comes not from its steel chassis but from its abundance of power-supply transformers and chokes, HR praised the EVO 400’s very high parts quality and lavished similar praise on its “scintillating” presentation and ability to portray vivid, well-saturated musical colors while nevertheless being “more concise-sounding” than its predecessor in the PrimaLuna line. “It generated clearer, more muscular presentations with sharper focus and more distinctly punctuated momentums.” Reporting from his test bench, JA noted that “the EVO 400 measures well for a tubed design.” (Vol.42 No.7 WWW)
