Customer Review: PrimaLuna EVO 300 Tube Integrated Amplifier. “Dynamic yet sweet amp!”

The team of Upscale Audio received a great review of our PrimaLuna EVO 300 Tube Integrated Amplifier.

I received this amp from FedEx yesterday. This was an upgrade from my PrimaLunaProLogue premium integrated that I had purchased a couple of weeks ago. I was thoroughly impressed with the ProLogue over my previous amp, the Rogue Audio Sphinx. Once I heard the ProLogue I had to upgrade to the Evo 300 and see if the increased bandwidth and other improvements would be obvious to my ear.

Right away I noticed a slightly bigger soundstage and a little more air surrounding the vocals. Their was good definition and slam to the bass.
The amp was a bit bright out of the box but it started to settle in nicely after only a few hours of play. I really enjoyed the ability to switch back & forth between triode and ultra linear modes. Playing the CD’s/tracks: Eva Cassidy (Live at Blues Alley), John Lee Hooker (I’m just a country boy), and Janis Joplin (Kosmic Blues -Live) in triode mode was a real treat. It brought a lot of texture & emotion to the vocals.

Overall, I am really excited about the upgrade and am looking forward to many long days of music enjoyment in the future. I will be adding a turntable to my system in a couple of months. I am currently waiting for a Border Patrol DAC to add to my Cambridge CXC transport.

Mr Herb Reichert of Stereophile magazine has reviewed our PrimaLuna EVO 400 Tube Preamplifier.

One of the statements Herb Reichert made in his review about our PrimaLuna EVO 400 Tube Preamplifier is: “Compared to the all-transistor Pass Labs HPA-1, the all-tube EVO 400 develops deeper, darker shadows, is more three-dimensional, makes more saturated tonal color, and has more eye-catching highlights. Its sound is thicker in viscosity than that of the HPA-1. Old-school tube aficionados would likely describe the EVO 400 as the clearest, fastest, most transparent all-tube preamp ever.”

Customer Review: ” The PrimaLuna ProLogue sounds so good…just phenomenal.”

The team of Upscale Audio received a great review from a recent PrimaLuna ProLogue integrated amp customer.

“I’ve had 3 different types of tube amps over the years. I’d gotten discouraged and gave up on tube amplification because of short-tube life and the associated damage from tube failures necessitating bias-circuit repairs.” [A friend put him on to PrimaLuna, and he bought a ProLogue integrated. Limited stocks left!] “I tried using the ProLogue to drive a pair of Totem Acoustic Forests. These are less efficient (86/87 dB rating) though they have a relatively benign (6 ohm minimum) impedance curve. I was AMAZED at how good the Forests sound especially given the prevailing wisdom on these speakers is that they are power-hungry and need big watts to sound their best. I’ve got a couple of solid-state amps with power ratings of 200wpc and more. Right now, I’m wondering when I’ll be using them! The PrimaLuna ProLogue sounds so good…just phenomenal. It provides great imaging, rich sonic texture and is a joy to listen to music with. “Sitting ~10 feet from the speakers and listening typically in the 80-85 db range with peaks in the low 90s, the volume on the Prologue is only at 10-11AM. It’s a solid, well-crafted piece. I had been using a pair of subs to supplement bass. They are switched off.”
