One of the emails is from Museum RockArt in Hoek van Holland and they write about someone I didn’t even know: Harry Vanda. He is/was Dutch, was member of The Starfighters (1962), reason why he is today, May 11, in the Museum for a band reunion. Since 1964 he lives and works in Sydney and became famous with The Easybeats (Friday on my Mind), as producer of AC/DC, Flash and the Pan and songwriter of Love is in the Air, Walking in the rain and more. So as I said … never too old to learn and maybe shame on me.

Jawel, krasse knarren doen het nog goed…. en niet alleen in de rockwereld!
Je maakt me (bijna té) nieuwsgierig … :-). Maar IK vraag niks … Je hebt wel gelijk dat in vergelijk met “vroeger” het lijkt of iedereen langer actief door kan in werk, sport, kunst etc. Volgens de heren politiekers is dat ook nodig. Tenminste bij ons in Nederland, hier in Frankrijk gaan ze het tegendeel mogelijk weer bewijzen omdat ze werken tot 60 genoeg lijken te vinden … Wij gaan morgen weer naar Den Bosch toe, en het lijkt me niet ontoepasselijk om dan maar te zingen “Dat gaat naar Den Bosch toe, Zoete Lieve Gerritje ….., wie zal dat betalen …”.
Idd. Toots Thielemans is net 90 geworden.
Klopt. Toen ik zijn naam ergens op zag duiken schrok ik ervan. Maar het was idd alleen om te melden dat ie de respectabele leeftijd van 90 jaar gehaald had. Én nog optreden ook. Moet ik de Stones of zo nog zien doen :-).
De Stones, 90 jaar en dan nog optreden……..:-) Dat lijkt me pas spannend! Maar Toots 90 en nog steeds optreden…Respect!
Ach, als je bedenkt dat John Heesters het tot ver over de 100 deed (hij werd 108), dan zijn die mannen van 90, nog maar “jonkies” natuurlijk.
Nou, als ik daar op doorga, Herman, dan zijn jij en ik “jongere jonkies” … hah.
Overigens vind ik de nieuwe Earing ceedee niet zo geweldig: liedjes spreken me niet aan en “audiofiel” bekeken/gehoord, zie/hoor ik ze het liefst L I V E. De (bijgesloten) DVD lijkt me dus beter …
Morgenavond met mijn jongste zus, Silvia, (die ken jij nog wel …) naar HMH: concert James Taylor, haar “lieveling” (ook al “ff” in de 60). Baai de weej: het weer in Den Bosch is momenteel bar en boos, dus ik zou in Sète blijven, hah
