The art of … Launching a product is more than manufacturing a good design …

launchBeing confrontated all day long with all kind of problems in different products is a good thing. At least if you learn out of that and if you get the opportunity to do something with it. I was thinking about that when we received today a carton with 100 new laser-assemblies. Laser-assemblies for our new PrimaLuna ProLogue Premium CD Player. As you might know this is a heavy tubified machine, not the cheapest but still one with a very high price/quality ratio, born in the late days of the cd and all that means … no mass quantities. But still, like any other product, we have to be able to give after sales service for the next ** years.

philps_lasers37 Years of hifi and high-end  distribution has learnt us a lot. Many times, manufacturers were producing but not keeping stocks of spare parts. Many times we have been virtually travelling day and night all over the world to find certain pieces the manufacturer did not have (anymore) and did not care for (anymore). So that’s why we ordered 100 of these laser-assemblies for our new PrimaLuna ProLogue Premium CD Player. And I thought let me take some pictures for the blog. Here they are. Over 1,000 Philips VAM 12** laser-assemblies, over 1,000 Sony laser-assemblies for our PrimaLuna ProLogue Eight and ProLogue Classic CD Player, 100 laser-assemblies for our PrimaLuna ProLogue Premium CD Player ánd 15 laser-assemblies for Krell KPS25s. Not to forget a box of CDM-Pro drives for Bow and a lot of other high end drives …

Primaluna_sanyolasersSo … Owners of the highly praised AH! (Njoe) Tjoeb CD Players (started in 1998) don’t have to worry. We still dó have lasers for that. When these machines come in for service, they get out “younger” than when they were “born”. Some parts however are getting “difficult”. Displays for example. Special mechanical parts. PrimaLuna cd player owners: don’t worry. Krell KPS25s or 25sc owners: don’t worry (if you know to find us). Bow cd player owners: same thing and you even can get your product repaired and upgraded by the original BOW (electronics) designer Lars Moltke who works with and for us …

Well, that’s what a simple brown carton made me think of today … 🙂
