Mike Matthews gave up trying to hold his back a long time ago, round about the time he tossed his necktie out the window, leaving his job as an IBM salesman in order to create effects and electronics for musicians playing rock and roll—one of his passions. That was 1968. Now, 45 years on – through chats with Jimi Hendrix, attacks from the Ladies Garment Workers’ union, herbal-induced mind-expansion in the 70s,  bankruptcy and a fight with hostile Russian “racketeers” – Matthews, sits atop a $27 million-per-year rock & roll business that sells 100 products and growing.
