Rules, rules, rules … CE rules!

rules2I am kind of a “provo” from the Sixties. That also means I hate rules from “above”. Did you ever look up to see the faces  from those looking down on you and making the rules …. Bèèèèhhhh, what an annoying shit! I was thinking of that while having an “in-flight” discussion with  ex-stewardess Ayse Yurga. Rules are KILLING. At least for me.

She is from Ankara, Turkey. The same country Adnan and Eda Arduman are coming from. People I love so much, I cannot express. Two years ago we spent a holiday together with them sailing on a boat. With friends and family from USA, Holland and France.de boot Captain Birol and family if I am right. Best weather, food, drinks, all what we wanted. We had a greatest time! Will never forget. Specially while I could keep email contact with the full world through my Turkish USB stick. Thát was a part of the deal. I come, but … Thanks Eda!

logo250timpaniAdnan was doing a very good job for PrimaLuna in Turkey. Initially we had all models CE tested and certified. Very expensive. And nowhere, anyone, asked for it. So for newer models we decided NOT to go for the CE certification and instead to make our own CE statement. Which is 100% legal by the way. Then Turkish government decided for change of CE rules and to accept only official CE Certificates. So we could not export any new PrimaLuna models to Turkey … :-(. Big shit. Just because of a few documents. I know that companies like Audio Research were “photoshopping” documents to get their stuff in, but we did not want to run that risk. So for some time, PrimaLuna was “quiet” in Turkey.

ce markThen we got the good news that rules were changing again in Turkey (let’s look  UP again all of us) :-(. And everything could be imported again the more or less normal way. Like in Europe. In the meantime however we decided to have all models CE certified for a “modest” amount of US $ 25,000.- as also Taiwain, Vietnam were asking for the Certificates (in fact the countries which wanted to protect their local manufacturing). OK, back to business in Turkey again! :-).

audiofastThis week we shipped a container direct from China into Poland. At least we tried. Poland is Europe! Not for CE! So all goods were shipped without the CE Certificates … Can you imagine how shit you can feel all about this? Rules, rules, rules. Last year we have spent € 25,000.- to get the CE Approval for all new models. Nobody ever asked for it. Nobody needed it. Untill today in Poland. What a luck these certifcates can fly the digital way. Good luck Jarek, good luck with the rules, rules, rules … Good we did that official CE Certification again last year! Up to the next!

Good Things From The Past Are Coming Back!

In the past we had a great time developing and designing all kind of things related to our biggest hobby: music and hifi. Once we were touched by this virus, it was impossible to stop us. Nice experiences and products were the result.

I remember we were making one of the first recordweights. Starting off with a solid aluminium disc, soon we were experimenting with lead. Melting in the “wok” did not work, so soon we were “cooking” lead in the kitchen in another saucepan. Not realizing the risk we were running with melting lead. Well, audiophiles seem to be a strong race, as we still are around. Instead of a solid aluminium disc we got an aluminium can filled with lead. Did we sell them? I don’t believe so as I still see these around in the offices to keep paperwork protected against the wind.

After that we came up with Kiseki phonocartridges, PinPoints, Audiophile Products record clamps, record mats, tone-arms, electrostatic elements etc etc.

Today I am excited and happy to write down that several of the tools we were using by then, have found a new place in our warehouse. So we can again experiment to bring up new ideas, prototypes, products. Keep an eye on us and enjoy how much we enjoy.

Beat Blue Monday January 20, 2014. Beat The Rats!

At the End of shitty year 2013 I promised you that 2014 was going to be the BEST YEAR EVER and that every day we were going to give you some Good News on this blog. Till now, every day we did and … till today the year has been excellent!

Then Blue Monday shows up. What is Blue Monday? Blue Monday is a name given to a date in mid-to-late January stated to be the most depressing day of the year. By many_people, the whole concept is considered as pseudoscience nonsense. blueformulaThere is even a formula to calculate the “sadness”. Hahaha. (Un)fortunately the formula is bullshit.

So what to do on what they say is “the shittiest day of the year”? I think the best solution is to bring the best possible news. What is the best possible news? I had to think a short while about that and during that time I received a drawing from a friend / client which gave me the answer. Read on and look.

rat-band2Hifi, audio, electronics is a nice way to  make a living out of your hobbies. That happened to me and this is in general, good news. But … as in every business, there are always people, other companies who/which want to take advantage of your efforts done. I am in this business almost 40 years and during this 40 years there have been always people, companies, rats, trying to “steal” my business, my cheese. That’s bad news and I am tired of that. So tired that I was happy to receive from a friend the drawing below which expresses very clearly how I feel about it and how I will handle it. I think it’s very, very good news that I am finally pissed off enough to deal with that. I just want to be left alone with the work I am doing, have no problem with whatever competition, but the people with the ever smiling faces, hahaha-voices/noises, shoulder knocking and “hallo mai fraind” greetings who at the same time f*** you in the back, they better think twice from now on. Oops … did I write that? Yes I did 🙂

Any more GOOD NEWS today? Yes! A lot more. But I save that for later :-). Have a good Monday!
