Nobody here does NOT know Dave Brubeck. Nobody here does NOT know Take Five by the The Dave Brubeck Quartet. Maybe EVERYbody here has this track, one way or another, at home.
It’s useless to repeat here what we all might know, can find back on the web, or read the coming days in the papers or music magazines. I just want to mention that it is kind of funny (or not) that Dave Brubeck always seems to get the full credits, while Paul Desmond wrote the song and his sax was (at least) as important as Dave’s piano.
Anyway, let’s remember and honor the man by enjoying Take Five another time. Rest In Peace.
I remember I was 14 years old and we played Take Five at a friends home on his fathers hifi set. I even remember his dad had a Lafayette amplifier, but forgot the rest of the system. What I never forgot was the track we played, altough it took me 40 years before I bought the record myself. I will put it on tonight to honor these great musicians.
Funny how the human mind works, playing Take Five in my head, the rest of the system is visualized as well, Janszen Electrostatic speakers and an AR turntable 😉
That simply means that this music and that system created your first audiophile feelings. I mean Janszen, AR … that was top of the bill at that time.
Inderdaad 5kwarts maat. Take FIVE hè. Ik dacht dat jij de FIVEennegentig al gepasserd was :-).
