The Dark Side Of The Moon
The Dark Side Of The Moon was the first genuine complete concept album by Pink Floyd. It was also their first worldwide success, and their greatest, spending no fewer than 741 weeks (fourteen years) in the American Billboard Top 100. The album’s theme is the dark sides of life – Time, Money, War, Death, Mental Illness.
The Wall is the best-selling double studio album of all time. It tells how rock singer Pink builds a wall around himself in order to protect himself from the outside world. The ‘Bricks in the Wall’ are formed by all the traumatic events in his life: growing up without a father, certain teachers at school, a mother who did not want him to grow up, the consequences of the Second World War, broken relationships. All of this gives Pink feelings of emptiness, aggression, desperation and numbness, and to the creation of a wall around him. He becomes stressed and sees himself as an invincible dictator, who wants to exterminate every weak person in society. When his schoolmaster, wife, and mother testify against him in an imaginary court case, he is forced to dismantle the wall.
