In the early days of my hifi-life it was kind of dangerous to play your favorite music with tube based equipment. Different examples of exploding amplifiers, curtains swallowing the small amplifier flames and make them grow huge in that beautiful New York apartment. The amp manufacturer even smiled while telling this kind of horror stories.

Meat (and) Loaf … right out of my mouth …

Sometime around 1963 … Boardingschool St. Louis in Oudenbosch, The Netherlands. Dinnertime. A few hundred young kids, very quiet, while one of the priests was saying the prayer, waiting for the start of their dinner. While the priest was praying I was looking at the salad and suddenly saw a long, fat earthworm coming out of the salad. Thank you Lord for giving us salad ánd meat … After the prayer I took a plate, put a leaf of salad on it and my new friend the worm. The plate was sent through the dining room passing all kids and the result was nobody did eat anything of the salad. I thought I was the Hero of the day. Until the priests found out it my initiative, one of them started to talk to me, then to scream and in the end he was beating me up ….

PrimaLuna en Master bijten spits af bij Rhapsody in de Dutch Master reeks

Een dag vol met Hollandse glorie en dan wel te beginnen met PrimaLuna. Dit Nederlandse merk wordt wereldwijd in elk tijdschrift beoordeeld als top en eigenlijk niet verslaanbaar in zijn prijsklasse. Onlangs nog heeft Absolute Sound weer een aantal PrimaLuna’s uitverkoren tot beste product van het jaar. De nieuwe lijn ProLogue Classic en ProLogue Premium staan al weer enige maanden in ons pand. Wij zijn totaal verrast door de indrukwekkende klankkwaliteit en als we dan kijken wat deze beauty’s kosten dan kunnen we alleen maar zeggen; wie in deze prijsklasse iets zoekt, kan hier toch echt niet onderuit.

Wisseloord …Het is een liefde … de liefde voor muziek.

Wil je eens van het ene uiterste in het andere? Bezoek dan eerst eens een MediaMarkt en de dag daarna de (her)opening van de nieuwe Wisseloord Studio’s in Hilversum. Maar ik geef het toe, veel andere combinaties zouden ook gemaakt kunnen worden.
