The nicest weather you can think of, the most pleasant atmosphere in town. Nice music in the street, not any problem seen. What else do you want? I made a very few pictures with my mobile phone, but I am sure you can find a lot on the web if you want to get a good idea of what Queensday in The Netherlands is. Personally I think The Queen, her family and this special day for her birthday is a very positive thing for The Netherlands. I think it is some nice “cement” in the Dutch community :-).
In the street kids try to make some little money by selling their old toys, books, cd’s etc. They play music or do a circus act. One guy was very funny. He was just standing in the street with a small poster saying yiou could make 20 Euro with whistling. I stopped, looked and we started talking. I told him I was whistling all day, until I visited the dentist. We were laughing and he asked me to whistle and told me I could win probably 20 Euro. What was the game? I had to buy for 5 Euro 4 Marie biscuits. These are absolutely DRY. But if I could eat these within a minute and whistle, he would pay me 20 Euro. Of course I could not even eat ONE biscuit, so we were all laughing and he made 5 Euro! Worth a good laugh! I promised him to upload pictures here, so here they are.
