Ivan en ik kwamen er zo maar op tijdens onze Skype-chat die we vaak tussen het werken door doen. “Je weet, af en toe stuur ik je eens een stukje muziek. Deze maand is dat dan ‘Hey Joe’ in een versie van Charlie Haden, Toots Thielemans & Nick Cave. Ik krijg daar kippevel van”. Inderdaad, mooi stukje muziek en spel. Doet me denken aan het feit dat Toots dit jaar 90 is geworden en we zo onbeleefd zijn geweest ‘m niet eens te feliciteren met deze mijlpaal. En zijn tijd politiek al ver vooruit. Met zijn 90 jaar nog aan het werk. En die Fransen maar zeuren over hun pensioen zowat op 50% van zijn leeftijd … Maar goed, 21 december 2012 vergaat de wereld weer.

Mystère at Ibex show during the Bonn Hifi Tage

Not everybody is crazy about hifi shows. For different reasons. But it is a justified tool to introduce yourself when you are new or when your products are new to the public. Risk is that circumstances are unknown, set up time is limited and the people running the booth are already exhausted at the start of the show. Still … they do it.

In April of 2010 Audio Research announced the Reference Anniversary preamplifier, a special limited edition product commemorating our 40th anniversary. It was acclaimed by many as the finest preamplifier available and a fitting tribute to all of the classic Audio Research products that were introduced during the forty years that preceded it.

The final manual of the Audio Research Reference 10 is out. Most people start using their equipment without reading the manual. Until something becomes unclear. Other people can dream away with a brochure in their hand of their dream preamp, poweramp or whatever gear.
